jaffa14 (8)Beautiful crisp conditions greeted the crews at Pembrey which meant only one thing, ice! Once this had thawed the usual grip issues with cow dung and low quality surfaces on the service roads, it proved to be entertaining on the stages. Kevin Tappin & Jonathan Hawkins (Escort Cosworth) were fastest on stage 1 by a single second from Paul & Nia Fowden (Impreza) on stage 1 and when Fowden punctured on stage 2 his challenge disappeared, (even with fastest stage times on stages 3 & 4).

Fastest time on stage 2 and a solid time on stage 3 saw Tappin extend his lead by 37 seconds with two stages to go before an overshoot on stage 4 meant he was now 5 seconds behind Gavin Edwards & Caron Tomlinson (Escort MkII). A big push through the final stage was enough for Tappin to take 30 seconds out of Edwards to win by 25 seconds overall. Carl Davies & Andrew Card (BMW M3) had a good consistent drive to 3rd overall after losing time to Edwards on the final stage, when top 2WD crew was up for grabs.
