Porsche GBJames MacNaughton joins Porsche from Goodwood to manage Porsche Carrera Cup GB.

Porsche Cars GB is pleased to announce that James MacNaughton has been appointed Manager Motorsport. James, who is based at the UK headquarters of Porsche in Reading, Berkshire, joins the organisation from Goodwood where he managed the Goodwood Road Racing Club successfully for the last ten years.

James is responsible for managing the Carrera Cup Great Britain and the link to the Mobil1 Porsche Supercup and the Works factory LMP1 and GT race teams in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The Porsche Carrera Cup GB is the fastest single marque GT racing series in the UK, and has been a firm favourite with competitors and race fans for over a decade, supporting the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC).

James reports to Ragnar Schulte, General Manager Marketing, Porsche Cars GB. “James is a highly skilled, experienced professional and we are pleased to welcome him to Porsche,” commented Ragnar. “Since the end of last season, we have worked hard on developing and implementing major changes for Carrera Cup GB for 2015, and are absolutely confident James will continue to lead Carrera Cup GB into a successful future. At Porsche, our heart beats for motor sport, and we look forward to an exciting Carrera Cup season with much more new talent in the Championship.”

The first event for James in his new role was the Autosport International Show at the NEC in Birmingham in January. “To see the enthusiasm for Porsche and Carrera Cup GB at Autosport International was impressive,” he said. “Carrera Cup GB looks great for this year, and while I have a lot to learn, I am enjoying working with the teams, drivers and sponsor partners to continue the success of the Championship over the coming years.”

The first race of the 2015 Porsche Carrera Cup GB Championship takes place at Brands Hatch on 4/5 April.
