Ambitious British rally co-driver Phil Hall scored a solid start to his MSA English Rally Championship campaign last weekend despite spending three minutes in a Cumbrian ditch. Sitting alongside rapid Fiesta R2 pilot Rhys Yates at the Malcolm Wilson Rally, the duo scored a creditable fourth in class B10. Taking in some infamous stages in the Lake District, the Cockermouth based event provided a challenging set of conditions for Hall to begin his challenge on the popular BTRDA run series.

Having sat with Yates previously in 2014, Hall would be assured of a competitive outing in the newly acquired Fiesta and was keen to see well the duo could do against some perhaps more powerful machinery in the class. Read More »

AaronMcClurePR03_15_MWFlookburgh rally star Aaron McClure endured a tough start to his season last weekend as he ended his Malcolm Wilson Rally hopes in one of the infamous Grizedale ditches thanks to a rear suspension failure. The 20 year old Allfloors Express and Yokohama backed ace would use his home event as the first outing for his newly acquired Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 9, setting an impressive pace before a rear damper failed on the sixth stage of the event , putting the rising talent out of the rally instantly. George_Morrison_PR4_15_MWHM Forces engineer and MG ZR pilot George Morrison had an event to forget as he tackled the second round of the REIS Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series, the Malcolm Wilson Rally.  After a non-finish on the opening round in February, Morrison would look to the Cockermouth based event to score some valuable points for his season assault in the MG ZR Challenge but would encounter mechanical issues before the rally even started. dw15_mw04Bentham’s David Wright made it to the finish of last weekend’s Malcolm Wilson rally in Cumbria after a tough two days with his Ford Focus WRC.

Wright tested the Kumho Tyres and Grove Hill Garage-supported Focus on the Thursday before the rally and had no problems as he gained valuable mileage in the new car. However, when he drove the car to scrutineering at M-Sport’s premises on Friday the engine cut out. Wright was able to make it to scrutineering after resetting all the cars systems  but it was looking doubtful that he’d be able to start the event. Read More »

McLaren Van GisbergenThe McLaren GT factory driver line up has been further strengthened with the addition of V8 Supercars star, Shane Van Gisbergen for the 2015 season. The 25-year-old New Zealander joins Rob Bell, Kevin Estre, Alvaro Parente and Bruno Senna at the Woking-based manufacturer.

Sharing the same home town as the company’s founder, Bruce McLaren – Auckland, New Zealand – Van Gisbergen has made a name for himself with a string of strong results in a variety of different championships. BHRC15 Red Kite TVThe TV coverage of the opening rounds of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship and the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship is now available via the BHRC’s dedicated YouTube channel.

For all four motorsport projects of AUDI AG the past week was a particularly intensive one: The DTM tested in Portugal, the LMP squad at Sebring and the Audi Sport TT Cup at Barcelona.
