Following a strong run to fourth overall, and top “super-car”, on the recent KCB Eldoret Rally, the QMR Rally Team of Quentin Mitchell and Tom Taylor are all set and ready for the forthcoming KCB Machakos Rally. The Shell V-Power and Velvex Tissue supported Skoda S2000 has been fully prepared for this weekends high speed event and Quentin is confident of another strong result. Quentin Mitchell Eldoret02

The Machakos Rally will be challenging for all of the modern super-cars which are limited by their gearbox ratios to a top speed of approximately 170kph, whilst the conventional Subarus and Mitsubishis will reach more than 200kph on the long straights. Quentin explains further; the R5 and S2000 super-cars are purpose built for incredible acceleration and are designed to be very nimble which gives them a big advantage in twisty stages. However we used stages in Machakos on the KCB Safari Rally and the long straights really handicapped us. Our target is to be the top super car once again this weekend. I’d also like to thank Highlands Water for coming on board to ensure that the whole team is kept sufficiently hydrated.

This weekends KCB Machakos Rally takes place on Saturday 8th of August. Immediately after the ceremonial start from the KCB Machakos Branch the competing crews will tackle a selection of high speed special stages in the surrounding area, totaling almost 290 kilometres before the champagne ceremony later in the afternoon.
