Brettex Site Services backed Rhys Yates aims for another class win at this weekend’s Woodpecker Stages.

Chesterfield rally ace Rhys Yates will aim to further enhance his lead in the REIS- Ravenol BTRDA Silver Star category this Saturday as he heads to the seventh round of the series, The Eventsigns Woodpecker Stages Rally. Having dominated the B10 class throughout his inaugural full rallying season, Yates now leads the two wheel drive category outright and will contest the Ludlow based event with one eye on the BTRDA and MSA English Championship title.

The 23 year old has had an impressive debut year in the BTRDA National gravel series and tops the leader board in a myriad of category’s as the season heads towards the closing three rounds. Read More »

WoopeckerPR03_pre_eventPicking a winner from the record number of 180 crews starting this weekend’s Eventsigns Woodpecker Stages Rally will be a tough ask for even the most experienced motorsport fan as the popular Ludlow based rally kicks off from Ludlow Racecourse on Saturday (5th September) morning. A whole host of competitors from the REIS-Ravenol BTRDA National Rally Series and Pirelli MSA Welsh Rally Championship will converge in Shropshire as the event receives one of its biggest entries in its 32 year history. In the eighth round of the FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup in 2015, the (until 30 August 28.), took Baja Poland the MINI ALL4 Racing, the first two positions. Local hero Krzysztof Hołowczyc (POL) used his home advantage and secured his fifth win in this event. The overall leader in the World Cup, Nasser Al-Attiyah from Qatar, finished second.

Together with his co-pilot Ł Łukasz Kurzeja (POL) took local hero Hołowczyc a comfortable victory. But the joy is also a bit of melancholy, the experienced veteran gave at the presentation ceremony mixed known about the victory that he will retire and the cross country rallying. Read More »

Sam_Bilham_PR4_15Bingley rally ace Sam Bilham will head to this weekend’s Eventsigns Woodpecker Stages Rally as he aims to rack up as much competitive mileage as possible, ahead of his inaugural World Rally Championship outing in November at Wales Rally GB. He will use the familiar Next Big Step backed Nissan Micra which he has been campaigning all year on the Ludlow based event which forms round seven of the REIS-Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series. Flookburgh rally ace Aaron McClure will head to next weekend’s Eventsigns Woodpecker Stages Rally (Saturday 5th September) with a mountain to climb, if he is to put himself back in contention for the REIS Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series N4 category win.  Having suffered a tough year behind the wheel of his new Allfloors Express – YOKOHAMA backed Mitsubishi E9, the 2300 Club John Easson Award winner starts the event fourth in the championship standings but will aim to get his title aspirations back on track for 2015. mewla15 (7)A misty and damp Epynt saw the finale of the 2015 Asphalt Rally Championship. Simon Mauger was already champion and through a regulation quirk could lose the championship if he entered the last round, so it was down to Damian Cole & Jack Morton (Fiesta WRC) and Steve Simpson & Patrick Walsh (Impreza WRC) to fight it out for victory. Simpson struck first, Cole then hit back before Simpson took stage 3 and a 5 second lead. Simpson was then fastest on 5 of the remaining stages, (and joint fastest on another), to take victory by 23 seconds from Cole. John Indri & Peter James (Impreza WRC) were almost a minute and thirty seconds further back in third place. Read More »
