Nick Mason and Harpal Sudle 01The 2015 East African Classic Safari Rally entry list was released in Nairobi, Kenya this morning and nestled among former world rally champions, Dakar rally specialists and no less than four former Kenyan Rally Champions, is the Datsun 240Z of Nick Mason (Waltham Abbey) and Harpal Sudle (Leeds). The pair, each veterans of the past four Classic Safari Rallies, will run with the number 29 on the side of their D-Mack Tyres, Proflex Suspension, Swift Energy, Binani Cement, World Rubber and CPM Concrete supported 1978 Datsun.

The Kenyan Airways East African Safari Classic Rally is a bi-annual event and in 2015 tackles place from 19 to 27 November. From a ceremonial start just north of Mombasa, Kenya, the pre 1978 rally cars will tackle over 4100 kilometres of some of the toughest and roughest roads imaginable across Kenya and Tanzania. The rally sees it’s foundations in the former World Rally Championship event of the same name which justifiably earned the reputation of “the world’s toughest rally”. And with El Nino rains forecast for November, the 2015 event could easily live up to that reputation!

Nick Mason and Harpal Sudle 02Nick and Harpal, along with their team of mechanics, have spent the last few months preparing their Datsun 240Z and recently loaded the rally car and support vehicles into a container which is currently on the high seas being shipped to Kenya. The next time the team will see the car is mere days before they take to the start! Nick; the Classic Safari is a must do adventure for anyone with a passion for cars. Competing for overall victory is out of the question as the top teams are spending an extraordinary amount of money on this event, but believe me, just making the finish is a victory in itself! And that is our target for 2015… to finish every single section and taste the champagne back at White Sands on the 27th of November!

About the crew;

Nick Mason, the driver, is a vetran of 4 Safaris, having first contested this event back in 2005. Hailing from Waltham Abbey, Nick is an adventure seeker who has raced everything from single seaters to contesting the Dakar Rally!

Harpal Sudle, the co-driver, is Kenyan born but now lives in Leeds, UK. He is married with two boys. Harpal has been involved with the Clasic Safari since it’s inception in 2003, with a best finish, as a co-driver, of 17th overall.

The pair are using this world famous event to raise awareness for http://www.osiligi.org and are supported by D-Mack Tyres, Proflex Suspension, Swift Energy, Binani Cement and CPM Concrete.
