Arwel_Jenkins_PR3_15_HeadshotNewtown based co-driver Arwel Jenkins has joined forces with Cornish rally driver Matt Cotton to contest the final round of the FIA World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB.  The experienced Welshman will contest his first ever WRC outing with Cotton and the newly formed duo will tackle the 12-15 November event in a Ford Fiesta R2.

Thirty year old Jenkins has been co-driving since his 16th birthday where he accompanied his father on a single venue event in Pembrokeshire.  Since then, he has followed the perfect co-driving path, contesting local road rallies which led to several seats alongside up and coming Junior drivers and his inaugural overall win alongside Chris Griffiths in a Darrian T90 GTR on the 2006 Welsh rally. fodmctrial15 (23)A glorious early autumn day greeted the crews for the FODMC rally time trial. After a year off the event was a great success and saw excellent battles throughout. Bob & Rob Morgan (Fabia) set the early pace but were pegged back by Andy Davies & Dale Bowen (Impreza) on run 2. Davies then took the lead by 2 seconds on the 3rd run, just before the lunch break. Morgan hit back to halve the deficit on run 4, which saw the crews running in the opposite direction, but Davies hit back with a time 9 seconds faster on run 5 and secured victory with another fastest time on run 6.
