Carlisle Stages pre16With continued title sponsorship from DMACK, the 2016 Carlisle Stages (Saturday 11 June) will offer 44 stage miles in the Kershope and Newcastleton complexes for contenders in the BTRDA Rally Series and several regional championships.

The rally will be a round of the Ravenol BTRDA Rally Series, the MSA English Rally Championship, the BTRDA Rally Challenge, the S G Petch Association of North East and Cumbria Car Clubs Stage Rally Championship, the Motoscope Northern Historic Rally Championship and the Association of Northern Car Clubs Forest Challenge.

Although the final entry fee will only be confirmed when the details of the MSA Master Agreement for use of forest special stages are announced, the anticipated entry fee is £490, which will reduce to £440 for Rally First contenders.

Building on the success and excellent competitor response to the first three DMACK Carlisle Stages, the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club will run a compact event based close to junction 43 of the M6 at Carlisle and running over superb stages.

The rally will be based at the premises of H&H Auctions in Carlisle and will cover 44 stage miles. Only six miles of stage will be double-used, thus ensuring the best possible road conditions. The first car will start at 8.30am and be back at the finish at around 3pm on this compact event. Scrutineering and documentation will run from 2pm until 7pm on Friday afternoon.

The route will cover five forest special stages, with a visit to the main service area in the middle of the rally. Management service will be available after all stages. The rally will include two long stages with a 13-mile stage in Newcastleton and a 15-mile stage in Kershope. None of the stages will have been used since the 2015 Carlisle Stages.

Dick Cormack, DMACK managing director, said: “As our local event, it’s great to see the DMACK Carlisle Stages growing year after year. We are proud to continue our support of such a successful rally which continues to deliver quality forest stages, cost-effective national rallying and fierce competition.”

Clerk of the Course Nicola Heppenstall said: “We are very grateful to DMACK for its continued support and we’re very pleased to have been invited to again host round five of the BTRDA Rally Series. We’ve listened to competitor feedback after the 2015 event and will be increasing the number of awards we present. We will also have a sealed-surface service area at H&H Auctions.”

The DMACK Carlisle Stages will be organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club. Event regulations are due to be published in April.
