The 24-hour races at the Nürburgring (May 28-29) in Germany and at Spa in Belgium (July 30-July 31) are the season’s pinnacle events in European GT3 racing. redkite16 (20)After a solid start to his MSA British Rally Championship (BRC) preparations on the Cambrian Rally, Chesterfield rally ace Rhys Yates went one better at last weekends Red Kite Stages to grab 3rd overall on the Llandovery based rally. Having only missing out on a top five position thanks to a tie break earlier this month, Yates and co-driver Tom Woodburn powered their Brettex Site Services backed Fiesta R5 to the podium spot amongst some ultra-tricky conditions on the South Wales stages. Feature Hall (2)13th time not unlucky as we made our annual visit to the International Historic Motorsport Show, aka Race Retro. Friday is all about the halls and sneaking a peak in the auction rooms. The main feature this year is Damon Hill and Williams and with 4 of his past cars at the centrepiece, there is a real slice of significant F1 history. Throughout the rest of the show the Group B rally cars were well represented and Norton amongst the bikes. With some nice motors up for sale in the auction we could only dream, (especially that Murciélago). Read More »

BRC16aThe MSA British Rally Championship blasts back to life next weekend (5/6 March) as no fewer than 54 registered crews from 11 nations tackle the opening round of the series, the Newtown-based Mid Wales Stages.

After a year’s sabbatical, the revitalised BRC returns with a new breed of cars, stars and classes for the 2016 season. The championship’s top category will feature 4-wheel drive competition for the first time since 2011, as the exciting new R5 cars do battle with S2000 machinery at the front of the field. Proctor FiestaNorth Yorkshire driver Kevin Procter is set to challenge on three fronts as the 2016 international Rallycross season roars into life next weekend at his local Croft Circuit.

Having not contested a full season in 2015 due to acquiring and subsequently developing the latest Ford Fiesta S2000 purchased from World Rally Championship team M-Sport, the businessman from Leeming Bar near Northallerton now plans to use the ex-Nasser Al-Attiyah ATM-prepared car in both selected rounds of the MSA Odyssey Batteries British Rallycross Championship, starting at Croft on March 6th, as well as the FIA European Rallycross Championship which kicks off at Mettet in Belgium on 14/15th May. Race Retro, the international historic motorsport show, has been acquired by Clarion Events Ltd from Live Promotions Events Ltd. Clarion will take ownership of the three-day event following on from the 2016 event which opened its doors today (Friday 26th February).

Clarion adds Race Retro to it’s motoring portfolio, which already includes the UK’s biggest indoor classic car event The Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, the Practical Classics Restoration and Classic Car Show, and the newly launched National Car Club Awards. Read More »

McLaren van GisbergenMcLaren GT has confirmed that Shane Van Gisbergen will be retained as a Factory Driver for the 2016 season.
