BHRC pre-Pirelli16Two crews stand out at the head of the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship as the championship focus moves north for round three of the season, Saturday’s Pirelli Carlisle Rally (30 April).

After the Red Kite Stages in February and Rally North Wales at the start of April, Jason Pritchard and Phil Clarke (Ford Escort Mk2) have a perfect score after winning both of the Welsh events. McLaren GT Factory Drivers Rob Bell, Côme Ledogar, Shane van Gisbergen and Alvaro Parente claimed victories in Europe and North America as the 650S GT3 enjoyed a strong weekend. The race-focused version of Super Series model secured a dramatic win at the opening round of the 2016 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in Monza, Italy, a double podium in the Pirelli World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park in the USA and pole position and a win at the first weekend of the International GT Open championship in Estoril, Portugal.

Jean-Eric Vergne, French driver for DS Virgin Racing, gave fans the hometown hero they wanted as he claimed a second place finish during the French capital’s first ever Formula E race.

Over the weekend, both DS Virgin Racing drivers impressed throughout practice sessions, and then delivered fantastic performances during Qualifying, which resulted in Sam Bird starting the race in Pole Position and Jean-Eric Vergne starting in third. Vergne narrowly missed second position, and whilst the team would have liked to have locked out the front row of the grid, they were left with an almost perfect starting position for the home race of DS Automobiles. Yates-002Chesterfield rally ace Rhys Yates will head to the third round of the MSA British Rally Championship this weekend to maximise on his strong start to his first ever season in the high profile series.  The Brettex Site Services backed Fiesta R5 driver recorded an impressive sixth BRC contender at the all-asphalt Circuit of Ireland Rally last month to leave him ninth overall in the championship. Yates will now benefit from previous experience of the stages as he returns the car to gravel trim for the two-day blast through Kielder Forest on the Scottish Borders. Read More »

With a pair of one-two finishes on the soaked Hungaroring track, the Citroën C-Elysée WTCCs secured the maximum possible points haul to propel the Citroën team to the top of the Manufacturers’ World Championship. José María López also extended his lead at the top of the Drivers’ standings after his third main-race win, while Yvan Muller claimed his first podium finish of the year.

RAC16 Salamandre AChristophe Jacob and Isabelle Regnier were the first championship finishers on round two of the Fuchs Lubricants R.A.C. Historic Asphalt Championship, Rallye Salamandre in Belgium on Sunday (24 April).

The championship’s first away event was deemed a great success despite challenging conditions as snow and rain left the closed public roads very slippery. Read More »
