After impressing on their debut on the Baringo Rally Raid in April, Professional safari guide Geoff Mayes and Naivasha resident Suzanne Zwager will reunite for the third round of the 2016 Kenyan Rally Raid Championship. The pair will use the very same Silverspread Meru supported V8 rally raid car which Mayes used to scored a class podium on the recent KCB Safari Rally.

Mayes and his chief mechanic, Pete Young, have completed a thorough examination of their rally raid car after the tough and gruelling Safari Rally, an event which Mayes tasted champagne with a fine podium finish, and after a basic spanner check the rally raid car, affectionately called “the flying elephant” will be ready for this weekends event in Naivasha.

Although lady Codriver Suzanne is local to this weekends event, Rally Raid 3 will only be the pairs second ever rally raid and with the pace at the front being so fast the target will be to record another finish. Geoff “rally raids offer fantastic value for money, and with the work we have done to our car we are aiming to have as much fun as possible this weekend. There are a few of us competing to a similar budget and so we will have a bit of an internal competition anyway!”

Rally Raid 3 takes place around Bilashaka Lodge on North Lake Road, Naivasha on Saturday and Sunday. The event is open to bikes, quads, buggies and raid cars. Geoff and Suzanne’s V8 rally raid car is supported by Silverspread Meru, Maxxis Tyres and Team Magic.
