JRM Chicherit announce“Flying Frenchman” Guerlain Chicherit is confirmed to join JRM Racing to contest the upcoming French, Spanish and German round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship. After a successful World RX debut with the British squad last year, when he drove at Lohéac in France and Franciacorta in Italy, the former Free Skiing World Champion, FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup winner, Dakar driver and World Record-breaking stunt driver has been eager to build on the experience he gained in 2015, having planned a return to the rallycross action for a number of months.

Guerlain will drive one of JRM’s MINI RX Supercars at Lohéac, France (2-4 September) and Barcelona, Spain (16-18 September), as well as Estering, Germany (14 – 16 October).

The three-event programme will see the 37-year-old Monster Energy athlete race against fellow Frenchman and 9-times WRC Champion Sebastian Loeb, 2-time and current World RX Champion Petter Solberg alongside many other well-known names in motorsport, including Ken Block and DTM- star driver Mattias Ekström.

Preparations for World RX Lohéac, the most anticipated race of the season expecting 90,000 spectators this year, are now in full swing and Chicherit is keen to take the wheel of the 2nd MINI RX Supercar that JRM has been developing this season: “”I’m really looking forward to racing in World RX with JRM again,” Guerlain said. “We’ve been exploring many options since Lohéac last year and initially spoke about doing the full FIA European Rallycross Championship in 2016. However, I decided to wait until the new engine was developed for JRM’s two cars. I hope to play my part in developing the car further so I can do a full championship season next year.

“The level of competition has increased again from 12 months ago with new teams and drivers, so my expectations remain quite realistic: to enjoy my racing and the crazy atmosphere. I’m really looking forward to racing in front of my home crowd again, and can’t wait to get in the car. I’ve still so much to learn in World RX but it’s super exciting to be part of the show and to race alongside some pretty impressive names in motorsport.”

JRM Racing Team Principal, James Rumsey, believes Guerlain’s previous experience will serve him well as he locks horns with the best rallycross drivers in the world for a second time.

He said: “Guerlain took a big step when he joined the World RX grid last season but he did a very good job. He impressed everyone in the team with his professional approach and the way he adjusted to driving door handle-to-door handle on a crowded track – particularly on his debut at his home event. The pressure was really on at Lohéac but he used that to his advantage.

“He’ll need to adjust to driving our two-litre development engine when he returns to the track in a few weeks but I’m sure he’ll be up to speed in no time. We’re looking forward to supporting Guerlain as he continues his development as a World RX driver.”
