Hexagon Classic Design is proud to present its latest interior installation, which focuses on some of Europe’s most iconic and important contemporary furniture designers.
Running from now until December 19th, the installation will be located at Hexagon’s classic car showroom, located in north London, just a few minutes walk from The Bishops Avenue, continuing Hexagon’s philosophy of mixing the world’s most amazing classic cars with art and design.
This winter’s pop-up installation focuses on contemporary furniture. Netherlands based Van Rossum is exhibiting a range made from solid oak. Started 40 years ago, Van Rossum’s ethos remains the same today – the best oak from the best sustainable sources, with wood that comes from one of the ancient forests in northern France. Only mature trees more than 100 years old are selected.
All Van Rossum furniture is made to order and nothing is wasted. Different parts of the tree are used for different models ensuring that Van Rossum gets the maximum out of each one. On every table, cabinet or chair produced, the unique character of each tree is on display and because the wood is solid, the furniture will last for many years. At Hexagon, Van Rossum will be displaying the Beam Coffee Table, Kops Oval Dining Table, Caillou Occasional Tables and the Nota Bene Console Table.
British designer Joel Muggleton has been working with Van Rossum for six months on a collection and Hexagon Classic Design is proud to display this work, which uses Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) for three fantastic pieces: the Ply 3 Series Stool, Wall Unit and Dining Table.
Also on display at Hexagon Classic Design is a diverse range from Swedish makers Källemo. Renowned in Scandinavia for interesting, and enduring designs, the company is famed for its ability to continually surprise with a diverse collection that can range from individual pieces of art to limited editions celebrating an occasion or commercial furniture for everyday use.
The company has over 70 years experience and in that time has produced iconic, practical yet stylish pieces and at Hexagon, many of its most renowned designs will be on display including the STAR and BRUNO chairs by Mats Theselius, NON chairs and table designed by Komplot and the PILASTER bookshelf, designed by John Kandell.
Interior specialist Gill King, who has provided furniture has brought the installations together. Her work focuses on creating inspirational environments using specialist materials.
Racheline Michaels, Hexagon Classic Design curator, said: “Embarking on a show requires confidence in the pieces that we actually could live with. We source some of the world’s finest examples of natural and sustainable materials. The sheer quality of the work in the showroom boasts materials which have their own imperfections and patina, something which evokes the same kind of emotional responce as owning a classic car.
“It is a privilege to bring these two worlds together and we hope this pop-up exhibition offers people an insight into the attitude furniture suggests to us. Those who want to create a very personal and unique environment are absolutely welcome to Hexagon Classic Design.”
