The HRDC ‘Academy’ was the recipient of the coveted ‘Race Series of the Year 2016’ at the International Historic Motoring Awards, held at the Guildhall in London.

That this innovative, entry-level historic race series stood up against strong opposition was an understatement in the extreme, but the win was not by a narrow margin; it was a runaway decision, voted by an elite panel of international motoring luminaries, who agreed that the 2016 season for HRDC ‘Academy’ Series surpassed all expectations, culminating in the thrilling St. Mary’s Trophy invitation race at the Goodwood Revival in September.

HRDC Founder and Race Director, Julius Thurgood, was naturally elated with the award and commented: “We can now all look forward to a bright future with this innovative series and 2017 looks set to match that of this year, especially so with the fantastic invitation to be the VIP invitation feature race at the Silverstone Classic, in aid of the Prostate Cancer charity. These prestigious invitations show that there is a great belief in the ethos of this entry-level series, which is truly here to stay.”
