Autosport International is living up to its billing as Europe’s premier pre-season motorsport event with a roll call of global racing superstars, both past and present, appearing at the NEC.

An all-star cast of motorsport heroes will be lead by Jacques Villeneuve who will be attending the show on Sunday 15th January, celebrating the 20th anniversary of his 1997 Formula 1 World Championship victory.

Four-time IndyCar Series champion and three-time winner of the Indianapolis 500, Dario Franchitti MBE, will be joining on the Saturday. Also making a star appearance on the Saturday is rookie Williams Martini Racing driver, Lance Stroll. He’ll be the first Canadian F1 driver since Villeneuve, who left the sport in 2006, when he takes to the grid in Melbourne later this year.

There’s no shortage of F1 legends, with Martin Brundle, Johnny Herbert and Derek Warwick all set to attend, while former F1 driver and three-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Allan McNish, will be present across the weekend to dissect the year in motorsport, including offering anecdotes on the FIA World Endurance Championship.

autosport-stars17gReigning Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Champion Gordon Shedden will be present too and he’ll be joined by fellow BTCC drivers and former Championship winners Andrew Jordan, Matt Neal and Colin Turkington on the Autosport Stage. All four will be going head-to-head in the Live Action Arena in what is sure to be a highly competitive time trial.

And speaking of live action, a key highlight is a celebration of 50 years of Rallycross. The segment will include 10 classic racers, such as the Porsche 911R which won the first ever Rallycross race at Lydden Circuit in 1967 and a selection of Group B icons such as the Audi Quattro.

A roster of Rallycross icons including John Taylor, the first ever winner of the European Rallycross Championship, will be joined by the former competitor and owner of Team Peugeot Hansen Motorsport, Kenneth Hansen. The Swedish driver holds multiple Rallycross records and has won the FIA European Championships for Rallycross Drivers title no less than 14 times.

With 2017 marking Williams’ 40th anniversary, show visitors can look forward to an immersive and interactive centerpiece, which celebrates four decades of Britain’s most successful F1 team. There will also be a host of famous faces from the behind the pitwall too.

Williams Martini Racing Deputy Team Principal, Claire Williams and Head of Performance Engineering, Rob Smedley, will both be at the NEC on the Sunday. There will also be an appearance from McLaren Technology Group Executive Director Zak Brown.
