Another exciting yet challenging Dakar has come to an end today with all three new MINI John Cooper Works Rally cars successfully completing their first ever Dakar – demonstrating that the newest cars in the family are set to follow in the ultra-reliable tyre tracks of their predecessor, the MINI ALL4 Racing. Seven out of all eight MINI competitors who entered the 2017 Dakar completed the route.

The 2017 Dakar has, as always, delivered a unique set of challenges for the drivers and co-drivers brave enough to tackle it. Poor weather conditions and related flooding have caused the cancellation of two stages and a reduction in distance of others, leading to the loss of some of the most technical parts of the track from the course and a total distance of 1,400 km less than planned. knockhill-msv17-announceThe Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship, in association with MSVR, has unveiled an Circuit Rally exciting eight round provisional calendar for its third season which will include a visit to Knockhill in Scotland for the first time.

Organised by Dunfermline Car Club and planned for Sunday 3rd December 2017, the all-tarmac event at Scotland’s National Motorsport Centre near Dunfermline in Fife will host the third round of the series with roads around the perimeter as well as the track forming the basis for the 40-stage mile event. Today’s thrilling stage saw Team Peugeot Total’s Peterhansel/Cottret and Loeb/Elena engage in a breath-taking clash which saw them complete the leg’s 292 competitive kilometres split by just 18 seconds. With only one day remaining, Peterhansel/Cottret are in a strong position to win the 2017 Dakar Rally thanks to an overnight cushion of 5m32s over Loeb/Elena.

– There was always a strong possibility that Leg 11 of the 2017 Dakar Rally would prove decisive ahead of Saturday’s short competitive burst, and the expected battle lived up every bit to its promise.
