Dark ominous clouds hung over the Northern Lakes for the Malcolm Wilson Rally which saw David Bogie & Kevin Rae (Fabia R5) take victory by 20 seconds. Keith Cronin & Mikie Galvin (Fiesta R5) were fastest through the opener by a single second from Bogie, (which more than lost at our position with a run through a ditch and slight overshoot). Bogie hit back on stage 2 to take the lead before the lead swung back to Cronin, courtesy of fastest time through stage 3. Bogie then went fastest on stage 4 before regaining the lead on stage 5, a foggy Grizedale North, with another fastest stage time. It was in Grizedale South that the win was made as Bogie took almost 18 seconds out of Cronin on that stage.
Stage 7 saw Cronin go fastest and take 2nd place overall, with the battle for 3rd coming down to a count back. Jonny Greer & Kirsty Riddick (DS3 R5) took it thanks to a faster time through the opening stage but Dave Wright & Steve Pugh (Focus WRC) had been mighty since resolving an issue that blighted their first 4 stages. Superb times through Grizedale set it up but they could only go 6 seconds faster than Greer, through Greystoke 2, when they needed 7 seconds to grab 3rd overall. Steve Bannister & Callum Atkinson (Escort MkII) were the first 2WD crew home by over 45 seconds with Steve Green & Michael Gilmore (Micra) the first 1400 crew to the finish, less than 2 minutes behind Bannister and 5th 2WD crew home.
