A superb trip to Belgium for the Rallye Salamandre saw another fine display from Florian Gonon & Michel Horgnies (Escort MkI). Gonon took victory at the death by 6 seconds from Paul Lietaer & Marc Noppe (Escort MkII) after Lietaer had been leading for most of the event. Christophe Jacob & Isabelle Regnier (Escort MkII) had been right up their in the first loop of stages but slipped back as the event progressed but still took a solid podium finish. Top British Historic crew were Darren Moon & John Connor (Escort MkII) in 5th place with Simon & Alister Crook (Escort MkII) the highest finishing RAC championship crew.

In the modern rally David Tinn & Giles Dykes (Satria Millington) started out well and were leading up until the 6th stage. At a notorious section in Renlies they carried too much speed and ended up in a ditch on their side. Jean-Noel Tournay & Laurent Mouton (Evo IX) took over the lead and were pulling away from Johnnie Ellis & Marc Fowler (Evo X) through the middle part of the rally, holding a healthy 20+ second lead. As they came in to view on the 3rd run through Renlies the engine cried enough and Ellis took over the lead with a healthy margin left to defend. In the end Ellis took a fine win by over 2 minutes from Mark Jones & Jonathan Hawkins (M3 E36) who had a superb run on foreign roads to them. Completing the top 3, and upholding local honour, were Vincent Gallet & Anthony Rochez in their superbly loud and fast Peugeot 306.
