Ford Fiesta R2 pilot David White will head to Carlisle this weekend for round two of the Prestone MSA British Rally Championship (BRC) and has his eyes set firmly on taking the BRC4 class honours at the Pirelli International Rally.

After a tough baptism to the BRC at the season opening Border Counties Rally in March, the Barnsley driver with co-driver and son Mathew alongside, have renewed confidence for the second round of the season and will be aiming to better their runner up spot from the Jedburgh based event in Cumbria.

White’s chances of taking the BRC4 class in March were thwarted by a transmission gremlin which curtailed any chance of being on the pace from the Friday night stages.

With a substantial penalty added as the team attempted to fix the issues, White elected to use the remainder of the event as a seat time exercise and brought the Fiesta home in second spot.

In only his second gravel rally of the year, White will take his Mirage Vape Stores backed Fiesta to the Kielder Forest for the very first time. Notorious in nature, White feels his experience from earlier on in the month will assist in his preparations for the event.

“A few weeks back I was contesting my first ever World Rally Championship event in Corsica at the Tour de Corse” says White. “I guess it’s as far away from Cumbria as you can get really, mountainous closed asphalt roads compared to the flat out gravel tracks of Kielder. But it’s the experience of that event and having to be neat and tidy between the drops that will play its part on the Pirelli”.

The two-time Group N National Asphalt Rally champion believes there are more associations with Corsica and Kielder than you may think.

“I thought I knew all about closed road driving but Corsica was a real eye opener.  You have to be inch perfect on every corner and you can’t afford to be off line at all. Looking at the stages in Kielder, that’s exactly the same principle. With the crown and camber of the roads and large ditches on either side, we will have to have perfect placement if we are to stay out of trouble and that is certainly the plan. Now I`ve had a bit of gravel mileage under my belt, I`d like to think we can get out front of on this one.”

The Pirelli International Rally takes place over 100 competitive miles in on 29th/30th April.

White is running under the Two 4 Motorsport banner and is backed by Mirage E Cigarettes, F & G Commercials, DAF, Whites Bakery, Speedline Wheels and Pirelli.
