Karting North East-sponsored Guy Wilks is aiming to put the disappointment of recent rounds behind him when he contests his home event at this weekend’s World RX of Great Britain.

Round five of the FIA World Rallycross Championship takes place at Lydden Hill in Kent and as the only permanent British driver in the series, Wilks is looking to get back to winning ways after a tough time of it lately in the Loco-liveried and KNE-backed Volkswagen RX Polo.

The former British Rally champion from Durham scored points in Belgium last time out to add to his tally from the opening round in Spain last month and is hoping that the British fans will be cheering him onto success after a great showing at Lydden two years ago where he was denied a podium on his debut due to a puncture.

As proprietor of the Karting North East facility at Warden Law near Sunderland, Wilks has been honing his skills around the race track in readiness for this weekend’s event which gets underway on Friday and which will be shown live at Karting North East where fans can enjoy the action on screen as well as taking advantage of the whole range of impressive facilities on offer.

Guy Wilks: “It’s been a tough start to the season for sure but we continue to take the positives every time we drive the car so it would be fantastic to get a good result on home soil at Lydden. We’ve Guy Walksmade more improvements to the car and I’ve been spending as much time driving around the KNE track to get me even sharper. It helps when you own a race track and I’ve been making the most of it since we got back from Belgium. The weather is set to be glorious this weekend so if anyone’s not making the long trip to Lydden, they are more than welcome to come along to Karting North East where we’ll be showing all the action live.”
