Following GCK’s announcement from February 8th, 2017, Monster Energy athlete Guerlain Chicherit and world leading motorsport and technology business, Prodrive, have been extremely careful about sharing details on the development of the all-new Renault Megane R.S. RX for the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship (World RX).

Whilst initially planning on unveiling the brand-new Renault Megane R.S. RX at the World Rallycross race in Lohéac, France, it has been decided, following numerous discussions on the back of significant recent technical developments, to wait with the official release until the start of the 2018 season.

The new GCK Renault Megane R.S RX has been designed by Prodrive to World RX regulations completely from the ground up, including engine, ahead of the car and team debut in 2018.

John Gaw, Managing Director of Prodrive Motorsport, commented “We are delighted with the progress we have made so far on the new GCK Renault Megane R.S. RX. This week we started work on the first body shell. The layout scheme for the whole car is 100% complete and we are well underway with the detail design with the new engine and many other parts already in production. All of us at Prodrive are really looking forward to supporting the GCK team in the 2018 FIA World Rallycross Championship. We have seen the increasing professionalism of the other teams and know that as newcomers we will have a real challenge on our hands to compete against their experience and the already well-developed cars.”

Chicherit added: “It’s been a really exciting few months and the next will be even better as I finally see my dream become reality. The guys at Prodrive have a big task ahead of them still but I have absolute trust in them to deliver the best car possible. I’m still focused on learning as much as I can ahead of next season with a mix of Supercar, RX2 and Karting on my schedule whilst also talking to some exciting partners and drivers who like the sound of what GCK is planning for next year. For now, I’m looking forward to catching up with everyone at Lohéac, my home race, and can’t wait to return next year with the new Megane and entire GCK team.”
