The penultimate round of the STRC at Warcop started off with sunny spells forecast and with 70 stage miles / 15 road section miles and 8 Stages the event certainly lived up to its reputation of being tough on crews and cars, the first couple of stages saw us loose a few crews namely Ian Forgan in the Hyundai Accent WRC who had a slight off damaging the front bumper but at service found to have brake problems and a puncture, not wanting to take any chances on the tricky stages the car was loaded up and heading back up the M6. Just under 60 crews took the start of the Mewla Rally and it proved to be a dominant win for Damian Cole & Paul Morris (Fiesta WRC). Their winning margin was almost 3 minutes from Paul Kirtley & David Jones (Impreza WRC) with Philip Turner & Simon Anthony (Evo IX) a minute further back, completing the podium. 4th overall and first 2WD crew home were Len Jones & Don James (Escort MkII) who took 22 seconds out of Terry Brown & Den Golding (Escort MkII) on the final stage, to move ahead and secure the place by 18 seconds. The Belgian Grand Prix marks the beginning of the home stretch of the season and it’s vital that we hit the ground running by making a return to the points.

Hungary could have been a very strong weekend for us but the results failed to materialise. This was frustrating given we proved throughout the weekend in Budapest that we had the pace to be competitive and be in contention for a good haul of points from both drivers. Read More »
