The legendary Indy circuit at Brands Hatch hosted the opening round of the 2018 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship over the weekend of 7th / 8th April, as the UK’s fastest racing series blasted back into action with each of 32 strong grid of 350+bhp 2.0-litre race cars using an Owen Developments’ turbocharger.

The 2018 BTCC season sees official works supported efforts from BMW, Honda, Vauxhall and Subaru, plus independent campaigns from Alfa Romeo, Ford, Mercedes, MG and Toyota runners, with many teams opting to use the TOCA Swindon prepared ‘spec’ engine. Irrespective of powerplant choice, each motor achieves optimal performance courtesy of an Owen Developments’ turbo.

The results of decades of motorsport experience, Owen Developments’ turbos incorporate cutting edge technologies including a motorsport specification low-friction ball bearing centre housing rotational assembly, an HTA billet aluminium compressor wheel and aerodynamic lock nut, which combine to maximise gasflow, transient boost response and longevity. Use of a stainless steel turbine housing reduces the overall weight of the turbocharger, offering the dual benefits of improved thermal management and high temperature crack resistance.
