Ryan Champion, who became the first British winner of the East African Safari Classic Rally last November in a Porsche 911 with owner Richard Jackson, is today confirmed for Sol Rally Barbados 2018, following a successful shakedown at the Chris Birkbeck Rally School yesterday (Monday). Sol RB18 will run from Friday to Sunday, June 1-3, with The Rally Show and Flow King of the Hill (KotH) the previous weekend, May 26/27.

Champion was among a number of Sol RB18 competitors heading south today, as Geest Line prepares to load approaching 30 cars on Sunday (May 6) at the south coast port of Dover, in the shadow of the famous ‘White Cliffs’, to ship across the Atlantic to the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International. Chesterfield rally driver Rhys Yates kicked off his Prestone MSA British Rally Championship (BRC) campaign in emphatic style by taking second overall and his best ever result in the series at the Pirelli International Rally on Saturday (28th April).

Driving his Brettex backed Skoda Fabia R5, Yates enjoyed a “dream start to the season” to set fastest time on the final two stages of the event in Carlisle, snatching second place and beating a multiple British champion in the process. Read More »

The 2018 season will start at Shelsley Walsh over May 5th and 6th with the Midland Hill Climb Championship drawing some fast cars, new faces and never been seen before cars to the 113 year old hill. The single seater entry is nearly brim full as people test out their modifications from the winter months to see if they can advance, improve and lower their personal best times, while the production based cars will also be seeing if they can knock on the door of some quick times too. Just days after retiring with transmission failure from Rallye Salamandre in Belgium, Steve Brown ensured his season was back on track by securing a class podium at last weekend’s HRCR Mini Sport Cup – Dixies Historic Challenge (29th April).

The special award winners from the second round of the 2018 FUCHS LUBRICANTS MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Pirelli Rally (Saturday 28 April), have been announced.

Ken Graham and Rory McCann collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. They started as car 66 in their 1600cc Hillman Avenger and drove a great rally to battle up to finish 26th in the two-wheel drive field. Read More »
