Reigning MSA Junior Rallycross champion Tom Llewellin endured a challenging weekend at the double header rounds of the Toyo Tires MSA British Rallycross Championship at Pembrey but still came away with a podium finish.

The 17 year old from nearby Haverfordwest in Pembrokeshire was again contesting the Swift Sport Championship for Peter Gwynne Motorsport (PGM) in the Suzuki Swift and after the difficult qualifying session for round four, battled through to take fourth place in the final.

For round five the following day, with the track being run in the reverse direction, the young Welshman battled against the dry and dusty conditions to claim a deserved third place in the final to continue his championship challenge.

Tom Llewellin: “It was a challenging weekend, but I learnt a lot along the way. We had a couple of minor technical issues in the heats on Saturday but got it all sorted for the final. Considering I started from the middle of the grid in the final, fourth was respectable, finishing bumper to bumper with third! On Sunday, we had good pace in practice and wins in Q3 and the semi-final put me on pole for the final. I had a really good start and was first into the first corner, but I was having to defend hard which was slowing me up, so I took the joker lap early to try and get some clean air, but it didn’t quite work out and ended up defending hard again which allowed the front two, who hadn’t done their joker yet, to get away. I finished the final in a hard fought third place which I was happy with and would like to thank the whole PGM team, our sponsors and my family for all their hard work over the weekend and a great few days racing!”

Round six takes place on July 29th at Croft Circuit in North Yorkshire. For further information, please visit and Follow Tom on
