As the 2018 racing season draws to a close, motorsport fans can still look forward to a number of events at Croft Circuit near Darlington over the next few months with three traditional events scheduled for the North Yorkshire track.

This Saturday (27th October) sees the final round of the Autosport International BTRDA Clubman’s Rallycross Championship which has provided plenty of dramatic action in recent times. Around 90 competitors will contest the various classes including a host of local drivers looking to end the season on a high.

Multiple British Champion Dave Bellerby returns to the sport in the SuperNational class whereby the driver from nearby Northallerton will be at the wheel of the Lotus Exige which daughter Paige contested the British series this year. Brompton’s Darren Grimston (Vauxhall Nova) and Northallerton driver Martin Peel (Peugeot 205) contest the Classic category whilst in the Juniors, Tom, Luke and James Constantine (Richmond) go up against Ben Sayer (Northallerton) whilst Matilda Procter (Leeming) and Eleanor Corner (East Harlsey) will also be in action in their requisite 1300cc Suzuki Swifts.

Yarm’s John Rook will also be in action in his Citroen Saxo in the Production class with drivers from Belgium, Norway, Poland and Ireland all set to contest the single-day event which also features top Supercar drivers Ollie O’Donovan (Ford Fiesta), Derrick Jobb (Ford Focus) and Tommy Graham (Ford Fiesta).

Practice starts at 09.30 with racing from 10.30 consisting of three heats per class and then the all-important finals later in the afternoon. Adult admission is just £11.00 per day in advance or £15.00 on the gate. Accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted FREE on both days and there is also FREE car parking and FREE paddock access.

Then later in the year, the annual Swift Signs & Shirts Christmas Stages Rally will take place as usual but instead of being held on its traditional date in between Christmas and New Year, this year’s event is slightly earlier on Sunday 16th December.

Organised by Northallerton Automobile Club, the format is expected to remain as eight stages totalling around 45 miles around various routes of the racetrack and access roads with the final couple of stages running into darkness. Many leading crews are expected to fill the entry to capacity with seven-times winner Kevin Procter from Leeming expected to head the field once again in his Ford Fiesta WRC. Regulations are now available with entries opening online at 19:00 on Monday 29th October 2018 and for further information please visit

Finally, Darlington & District Motor Club’s annual Jack Frost Stages Rally is another one to shift from its traditional January date and this year will take place on Sunday 17th February 2019. Like the Christmas Stages, it will incorporate a number of rounds of regional championships and will feature many top drivers competing in preparation to the 2019 season over eight stages. Regulations will be available in due course at the new website
