The overnight rain left the Goodwood circuit slippy and very green for the first stage and it was Richard Weaver & James Pink (Evo VI) who took advantage of their four wheel drive to set fastest time by 9 seconds. It set the tempo and a heavy downpour after stage 2 really played in to the 4WD crews hands for the following stages. Weaver set fastest time on all 5 stages to the lunchbreak and followed up with two more after lunch, on a now dry track. With a 56s lead Weaver relaxed slightly on the last pair of stages to secure overall victory by 45s.

Behind Paul King & Alicia Miles (Escort MkII), Ian & Oliver Hucklebridge (Escort MKII), Roger Moran & Chris Ridge (Darrian GTR+) and Tony Robinson & Mark Witherspoon (Satria Millington) battled hard for 2nd place. Robinson took it on stage 2 from Moran by 3s with King and Hucklebridge close behind. A superb stage 3 for King saw him jump above Moran and close in on Robinson. Drying stages saw King nip in front of Robinson by the end of stage 5. Hucklebridge passed Moran for 4th on the soaking 3rd stage, as the Darrian struggled to get its power down.

Robinson struck back on stage 6, with King faster on stage 7 but still behind. Robinson then kept it planted for the final two stages to take 2nd place by 8 seconds from King who took the 2WD top spot and class D honours. Hucklebridge ended up 18s back in 4th overall meanwhile Moran was pulled up for exceeding the noise limit after stage 7 and did not continue. This allowed Tim Mewett & Liz Jordan (Escort MkII) to take 5th place and victory in class C. 14th overall and class B went to Graham Palmer & Dominic Worsfold (Fiesta) with class A going to the brilliant Nova of Christopher & Anthony Newton who would have been in the top ten overall had it not been for 3 minutes dropped on stage 7.
