Two of Britain’s most consistent Sol Rally Barbados supporters will jointly clock up their quarter-century this year, when Andrew Costin-Hurley makes his 16th appearance in the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) premier event and Nigel Worswick participates for the ninth time. And there’s an even closer link between the two this year than just their common history of campaigning Ford rally cars for many years . . . as Costin-Hurley’s wife Melissa will sit with Worswick on one run of Flow King of the Hill, as one of two successful bidders in an on-line charity auction last year.

Sol RB19 will run from Friday, May 31 to Sunday, June 2, with The Rally Show on the previous Saturday (May 25) followed by Flow KotH at its new location of Stewarts Hill on Sunday, May 26; it is the 30th running of an event that has evolved from small beginnings as the All-Stage Rally of 1990 into the Caribbean’s biggest annual motor sport International and a key National Event on the island’s sports-tourism calendar. Cumbrian driver Barry Lindsay will lead the field away on the Darlington and District Motor Club-Barry Lindsay organised Jack Frost Stages Rally in association with Cartersport which will take place at Croft Circuit, North Yorkshire next Sunday (17th February 2019).

Sam Bilham says he has “no expectations” ahead of the opening round of this year’s Jordan Road Surfacing BTRDA Rally Series which sees the Bingley rally driver make his debut in the Greenlight Sports and Entertainment Ford Fiesta R5 at the Cambrian Rally this weekend (16th February).

The 2017 Fiesta ST Trophy champion has recently secured a deal to drive the rally winning four-wheel-drive M-Sport R5 machine after his top ten performance on last year’s Wales Rally GB National was spotted by Greenlight’s Managing Director Guy Smith and Swift Group Chairman Peter Smith. DS TECHEETAH heads to Mexico City with hopes to score more valuable points at the fourth round of the 2018/2019 ABB FIA Formula E championship that is taking place on 16 February 2019.

Whilst Sweden is currently hosting the world skiing championship, it is also preparing to be thrilled by a different set of acrobatic talents this week. Tightrope walkers Sébastien Ogier / Julien Ingrassia and Esapekka Lappi / Janne Ferm will brave the forests of Värmland at the second round of the World Rally Championship. Temperatures of down to minus 10 degrees centigrade will greet British rally co-driver Phil Hall and a dozen other entrants as the Junior World Rally Championship kicks off at Rally Sweden next week (14th – 17th February).

The Finnish-based team of double WRC champion Marcus Grönholm will continue its World Rallycross Championship venture in 2019. The team will retain its two permanent drivers – Niclas Grönholm and Timur Timerzyanov – who will be accompanied by development driver Reinis Nitišs for several outings. The trio will chase trophies with a 2019 version of the team’s Hyundai i20 Supercars.

GRX TANECO successfully debuted it’s Hyundai i20 Supercar last season and after 12 rounds claimed fourth in the World RX Teams’ standings, with Niclas Grönholm finishing seventh and Timerzyanov 10th in the Drivers’ championship.

Multi-platinum selling artist Sean Paul will perform live at the Dayinsure World RX of Great Britain, the UK leg of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, presented by Monster Energy.

The British event, round four of the World RX championship, is the centrepiece of the SpeedMachine Festival at Silverstone from May 25-26. The multi-faceted SpeedMachine brings together an array of motorsport activity, street food and entertainment.
