Penrith-born driver Frank Bird put in a stunning performance on his stage rally debut when he Frank Birdsensationally won his class on today’s Dukeries Motor Club-organised Donington Rally held at Donington Park.

Along with Hexham co-driver Jack Morton in the Dom Buckley Motorsport/IRS-prepared Ford Focus WRC07, with backing from Frank Bird Poultry, Be Wiser Insurance, PBM and Hager, the 19 year old only found out they had a run late on Saturday so thanks to a herculean effort by Neil Buckley and his team, they arrived at the start as drizzle started to fall. Damp conditions soaked the Donington Park circuit for the latest round of the circuit rally championship. With Storm Freya on the way crosswinds would play their part in the afternoon too but it did little to stop the Smith’s. Pete Smith & John Millington (Fiesta WRC) set the pace through stage one before son Guy, co-driven by Pat Walsh, took the 2nd stage in their Fiesta R5. Pete then went fastest on stage 3 to extend his lead before Guy took stage 4 to leave them tied at the lunchbreak. Guy was fastest out of the blocks in the afternoon though and took all 3 stages to beat his father by 16 seconds. Read More »

EKS Sport have today announced that Hungarian Krisztian Szabo will compete as a permanent driver in the 2019 FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy.
