Damp conditions soaked the Donington Park circuit for the latest round of the circuit rally championship. With Storm Freya on the way crosswinds would play their part in the afternoon too but it did little to stop the Smith’s. Pete Smith & John Millington (Fiesta WRC) set the pace through stage one before son Guy, co-driven by Pat Walsh, took the 2nd stage in their Fiesta R5. Pete then went fastest on stage 3 to extend his lead before Guy took stage 4 to leave them tied at the lunchbreak. Guy was fastest out of the blocks in the afternoon though and took all 3 stages to beat his father by 16 seconds.

Too much time dropped on the 1st stage saw the challenge of Chris West & Keith Hounslow’s 306 Maxi Kit Car out of the battle. Fastest stage times on SS3 & SS5 saw them claw time back to finish a comfortable 3rd overall, 20 seconds behind Pete Smith, well ahead of the chasing pack. 4th overall and a class 3 win was the reward for Joshua & Tamsyn Davey in their Darrian T90 with Frank Bird & Jack Morton (Focus WRC) completing the top 5 on Frank’s rallying debut.
