Firstly, hello and welcome to the first Race and Rally – Rally2 Championship Update of 2019 and we are pleased to deliver the first points tables after round 1, Rally North Wales.

We are delighted to welcome 16 contenders to the opening round with more still to come on the Pirelli International Rally at the end of this month, further demonstrating the hunger for a positive running order for two-wheel-drive machines and a dynamic calendar of events.

Ieuan Rowlands and Emyr Hall took first blood on their home turf, swapping last years Jordan Road Surfacing Hillman Avenger for Ieuan’s own Escort Mk2 and scoring a fantastic result overall. They not only lead the Open Plus class but also Rally2 overall. Keeping it in the family, John Rowlands with Caron Tomlinson alongside, secured the Open Class win in their similar machine.

However, it was a closely fought affair across the classes and the season is looking like a great battle which culminates in the Sunday leg of the epic Roger Albert Clark Rally in November.
