Warm and dry conditions met the crews on the Mewla and Damian Cole & Paul Spooner (Fiesta WRC) set the early pace, setting fastest times across the 3 stages of the first loop, taking a lead of 13s over Bob Fowden & Den Golding (Impreza WRC). Jason Pritchard & Phil Clarke were struggling with their Focus WRC picking up, trailing back in 3rd place, some 23s off the lead. Cole extended his lead to 25s over loop 2 as Fowden drifted back and Pritchard stemmed the time loss. The long stage 7 saw Pritchard climb up in to 2nd place with Alan Kirkaldy & Cameron Fair (Fiesta R5) up to 3rd overall on only their 2nd visit to Epynt.

With two loops to go Pritchard nibbled in to Cole’s lead on stage 8 with Cole getting a few seconds back on stage 9 before the top crews beat the bogey time on stage 10. The big loser was Kirkaldy who was held up behind the Impreza WRC of Paul Kirtley on stage 8, dropping the best part of half a minute and falling back in to 4th place behind Fowden. The final loop of stages saw Pritchard close to 19s behind Cole, but it was a 23rd win over Epynt for Cole setting up a winner takes all finale up at Otterburn in 4 weeks time.

Fowden completed the podium 44s off the lead with Kirkaldy a further 25s back in 4th overall. John Stone & Michael Gilbey (Fiesta WRC) completed the top 5 over a minute further back. 6th overall and first 2WD crew home were Darren Atkinson & Phil Sandham (Escort MkII). Running over the final two loops of stages were the Epynt Stages crews and victory was taken by Rhys Davies & Gerwyn James (Darrian T90) by over a minute and a half.
