It was back to South Wales for rounds six and seven of the Toyo Tires UK Motorsport British Rallycross Championship which took place at Pembrey and saw reigning MSA Junior Rallycross champion Tom Constantine continue his quest for the prestigious Swift Sport Championship.

The 18 year old from Richmond was again contesting the class within the BRX series and was hoping to build on his superb victory at the previous round held at Lydden Hill last month.

But the meeting proved to be a testing one for the Yorkshireman in the 1600cc Suzuki Swift supported by Advanced Vehicle Leasing, Teesside Karting, MP Groundworks and Plant Hire of Northallerton, Sig Leeds, Intermezzo Drive, Wray Joinery Limited, DJR Smith, Victoria Garage Richmond Ltd, Royal Purple Lubricants and Constantine Building Services.

Saturday’s competition saw Tom finish in fourth place in the final to score solid points and then on Sunday, he managed to up his game sufficiently to claim runner-up spot to maintain his fourth place in the standings, just 12 points off the series leader.

However, the final two rounds are held at Tom’s local circuit of Croft at the end of next month so he will be aiming to take a double victory on home soil and give himself the best chance of winning tack to back titles.

Tom Constantine: “Saturday was a tough day, I struggled with my pace throughout qualifying and managed to grab fourth in the final after a very difficult day. Sunday was a lot better for me, I was consistently second to my rival Max Weatherley all day, but he drove really well. I had a very hard final and managed to get a strong second place out of it to maintain my championship challenge. A bit of an up down weekend but overall, I’m happy with how it went and of course, a big thank you to all the sponsors and my team, roll on the next round at Croft!”
