The first half of the UCI Road World Championships in Yorkshire would see the time trial titles decided before the switch to the bunch races. Each day proved to be totally different with rain, to varying levels, one day and the sun and dry roads the next, so it really proved to be a lottery as to which conditions each race would get. The opening day saw the Netherlands take the mixed team time trial. The Monday saw the Womens junior title go to Aigul Gareeva (Russia) in the morning before Antonio Tiberi (Italy) made a courageous comeback to secure the Mens junior title.

Truly awful conditions lead to the delay of racing as in the morning the Mens U23 title was a matter of survival with huge puddles making the course hazardous. Mikkel Berg (Denmark) came out on top, retaining his title for a 3rd consecutive year. The Elite Women then took to the roads in the afternoon and it was Chloe Dygert (USA) who stunned the field by taking victory by over a minute and a half. The Wednesaday saw the final TT World decided and it was Rohan Dennis (Australia) who redeemed his season by taking a dominant victory.
