Two months earlier than usual the Alan Healy could have been struck by much worse weather but overnight rain was as bad as it got. Frank Bird & Jack Morton (Focus WRC) maintained the recent run of fine performances, taking victory by over a minute. It did not start well as stalls on the tight hairpins meant that Mark Kelly & Neil Colman (Escort MkII) held the lead after two stages. Bird then set fastest time on all of the remaining 7 stages to pull away. Kelly held on to 2nd place by 8s from Paul Smith & Dale Bowen (Fiesta R5), which was all the more remarkable as the stage conditions all day suited 4WD cars better than his rear wheel drive.
