Penrith-born racing driver Frank Bird was in scintillating form once again as he took a comprehensive victory on today’s Rainworth Skoda Dukeries Rally held at Donington Park.

The event formed the opening round of the COVID-19 delayed 2020/2021 Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship with MSVR whereby the 21-year-old Cumbrian, along with Hexham co-driver Jack Morton, won every stage to emerge 35 seconds clear of their nearest rivals. Read More »

Under the spectre of covid-19 the MSN Circuit Rally Championship finally started on the Dukeries Rally, behind closed doors at Donington Park. A simplified format saw just 6 stages, split into 3 pairs of stage layouts, totalling just over 50 stage miles. Frank Bird & Jack Morton (Focus WRC) continued their form from March and dominated the event going joint fastest on the opening stage, before setting fastest time on all 5 remaining stages. Rochdale based rally driver Steve Brown will contest the first stage event to take place after a nationwide lockdown this Sunday (6th December), as he tackles the Dukeries Rally at Donington Park Race Circuit in his familiar Nissan Micra Kit Car.

The opening round of the Motorsport News Circuit Rally Championship has attracted a capacity entry, with over 100 cars set to tackle the popular event, with Brown’s Nissan contesting the event at number 70 seed, such is the quality of the field. Read More »
