+ 180 entry applications received in two hours
+ Clear indication of the demand for UK forest rallying
+ Draft unseeded entry list to be published on Tuesday 4 May

The organisers of the 2021 Roger Albert Clark Rally (25-29 November) were completely overwhelmed by the demand for places when the entry list opened at 0900 today (Friday 30 April).

By mid-day on Friday, close to 200 applications had been taken and the rally set new records for the number of entries placed as soon as the list opened. In the first two minutes, 60 entry applications were taken and the list hit 180 in under two hours. The 14th edition of the rally will cover 350 forest stage miles in five days across England, Scotland and Wales.

Now, the organisers, headed by Rally Manager Colin Heppenstall, are working though entry forms and deposit payments to draw up a first list of competitors. 115 places are available to UK crews and a further 20 places will be allocated to overseas crews. There will then be 15 reserves and all others will be placed on a wait list. Acceptance of entries will be sent out as soon as possible and Heppenstall hopes to issue a provisional entry list on Tuesday.

The response to the Roger Albert Clark Rally represents a huge boost for UK rallying, which has not had a major forest rally since February 2020. The event is generating business right across UK rallying for car preparers, suppliers, engineers, tyre companies, fuel suppliers and more. A number of fresh car builds are now in hand, specifically for the rally. Meanwhile, the regions visited by the event are already reaping the benefit of hundreds of hotel rooms being booked in what is a very quiet time of the season.

Heppenstall said: “The level of interest is overwhelming. This is the culmination of 14 years of organising and building the event and it is very clear that there is a big demand for forest rallying. This is a massive boost for the whole of UK forest rallying and the economies in the regions that we visit.”

Entries are still open and, given an expected number of withdrawals over the next six months, prospective competitors who have not yet entered are still encouraged to do so.
