The J1000 Ecosse Challenge heads to Knockhill for round 3 of the 2022 season, the McRae Junior Rally Challenge, part of the McRae Rally Challenge, a celebration of rallying legend Colin McRae.

Run over 2 days at the famous race circuit the event will see the juniors rubbing shoulders with some legends of the sport. World champions from both seats in rallying, multiple British rally champions and Olympic gold medalists. Lofty company for the juniors to be keeping.

With the English championship making a 2nd appearance in Scotland this year, 19 J1000 crews are on the entry list, 12 from the Ecosse Challenge.

Coming into this round, 4 crews are tied at the top of the championship points and all 4 are on the McRae entry list. Oliver Phillips & Emma Morrison, Rian Walker & Stuart McBride, Letisha Conn & Richard Stewart and Jack Ryan & Robin Nicolson all on 53 points.

Just behind these 4, Thomas Milne & Neil Jeffrey and Bobby Conn & Tom Middlemiss are tied on 47 points. Thomas topping the standings in the Pearsons of Duns Trophy for Nissan Micra drivers while Bobby has endured a difficult start to the season, not fully gelling with his Citroen C1.

Evan Findlay will be reunited with Gordon Finnie for Knockhill, the 107 pilot another driver who’s had a difficult start to his season.

Ruan Lowry & Fraser Mack are tied on 40 points. Ruan has the distinction of having an off on both the opening rounds as he throws his Micra around the stages. Fraser has got quicker with every stage this year, look for that to continue at Knockhill.

Lucy Cree has also got quicker with every stage. The car sporting it’s new wrap, supporting Cash for Kids, is one of the most eye catching on the entry list and will hopefully grab a lot of attention at the McRae.

Everyone will need to keep an eye out for both Kalum Graffin & Sam Pattison. With 1 win apiece they’re both going to be charging for the top of the championship standings and the rally win. Ingliston winner Kalum returning after a hand injury sidelined him for round 2 and Sam fresh from dominating Kames on his 1st event of the season last time out.

It all goes down on the 2nd & 3rd of July. If you can’t get yourself along keep an eye out on the Junior Rally Scotland Facebook page for live coverage & updates throughout the 2 day.
