Next year’s Nicky Grist Stages will host no less than six of the UK’s top national rally championships when the Builth Wells-based event takes place on Saturday 10 July 2021, with crews from the prestigious British Rally Championship (BRC) joining the likes of the hugely popular MRF Tyres BTRDA Rally Series and Motorsport UK Pirelli Welsh Rally Championship.

This means that the Quinton Motor Club-organised event, which has won the ‘BTRDA Best Rally of the Year’ award five times, will see the best British national rally crews tackle the classic mid-Wales forest stages of Crychan, Halfway and on the Epynt military ranges in an all-action, one-day, 45 stage mile rally festival. The action-packed British Rally Championship is all set for 2021, with Motorsport UK today (Wednesday 16 December) announcing the calendar for the new season ahead.

Exactly one year ahead of the start of the rally, the 2021 Roger Albert Clark Rally has received an overwhelming response since outline details of the biennial rally were announced.

At 1500hrs on 25 November 2021, the first competitor will leave the start to head into five days of rallying across England, Scotland and Wales and there is every reason to expect very high demand for entries based on the feedback from the last few days. Read More »

Outline details of the 2021 Roger Albert Clark Rally have been announced and planning is underway for another epic stage rallying challenge over five days in November.

The event will run from Thursday 25 to Monday 29 November and rally manager Colin Heppenstall is planning to make the 14th edition of the biennial rally at least as tough as the hugely successful 2019 event. Motorsport UK and Natural Resources Wales (NRW) have signed a new access agreement which will allow competitive four-wheeled rallying on NRW-managed land for the next three years until 2023.

For decades, NRW’s forests have played host to a range of motorsport, working effectively with Motorsport UK to stage events at every level of the sport, from grassroots to the iconic Wales Rally GB – Britain’s round of the FIA World Rally Championship. Read More »

Like a lot of people during Lockdown, I found myself delving into some of my old photographs from my early motorsport career – particularly the very early years when I was still learning my trade!

It led me to resurrecting my old UK Rally Calendar which I had stopped doing since I retired. I’ve used a selection of some of my old favourite pictures from some of my favourite and memorable locations (some of which probably arent used any more) and title it ‘Classic Rallying’!

It features many of the great cars and drivers of the late 80s and early 90s such as Malcolm Wilson in the Ford Sierra Cosworth 4×4 and the late Dave Metcalfe in the Vauxhall Nova. Read More »

Junior British Rally Championship frontrunner Eddie Lewis enjoyed a return to the driver’s seat of his M-Sport Ford Fiesta R2 last week, after testing the new Rally4 upgrade kit ahead of the forthcoming M-Sport Return to Rally Stages.

Lewis, aged 18 from Newark, has been one of the very first in the UK to take delivery of the Rally4 kit from M-Sport Poland, which aligns the popular Fiesta R2 with the new Rally 4 regulations introduced by the FIA at the start of the year. Read More »

The Nicky Grist Stages is set to return to the classic mid-Wales forestry stages on Saturday 10 July 2021, following the cancellation of this year’s event.

Quinton Motor Club had originally planned to run the event – which is a five time winner of the BTRDA ‘Rally of the Year’ award – on Saturday 11 July, but owing to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, the event was postponed until Saturday 28 November. Read More »
