McLaren Factory Driver Alvaro Parente continued his strong start to the 2017 Pirelli World Challenge season on the streets of Long Beach California, breaking the lap record to score pole position, before claiming a lights-to-flag victory. Close behind the reigning champion, K-PAX Racing’s Bryan Sellers teammate secured the final podium position in the #6 650S GT3.

During qualifying, Parente set a time of 1m 18.883s in the #9 K-PAX Racing 650S GT3, to score pole position by exactly a tenth of a second. Read More »

Factory Driver Alvaro Parente kicked off his Pirelli World Challenge (PWC) title defence in the best possible fashion at the opening round of the season on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida over the weekend. The Portuguese driver took victory in the opening race of the 2017 campaign, and narrowly missed a podium, finishing P4 in Race 2 for customer team K-PAX Racing in the #9 McLaren 650S GT3. mclaren-bathurst17aThe McLaren 650S GT3 will return to Mount Panorama circuit in Australia next month with four customer team-run entries confirmed for the 2017 Bathurst 12 Hour. The race will also mark the competitive debut outing of Ben Barnicoat who joins the McLaren GT Driver Academy for 2017.

20-year-old Ben Barnicoat joins the McLaren GT Driver Academy after impressing in single-seater racing over the past few seasons. Barnicoat is supported by the prestigious Racing Steps Foundation – a private non-profit organisation focused on developing the UK’s greatest young talent in motorsport – and was a part of the McLaren Formula 1 Young Driver Programme from 2010. In his debut season racing in North America, McLaren Factory Driver Alvaro Parente has claimed the 2016 Pirelli World Challenge Driver Championship with the 650S GT3 in a dramatic season finale at Laguna Seca. Crossing the line second, Parente secured the title as McLaren took the Manufacturer Championship and customer team K-PAX Racing won the GT Teams Championship. A post-race penalty for the race winner then saw Parente inherit the overall race win – his sixth of the season.

mclaren-september16aFactory Drivers Rob Bell, Côme Ledogar and Shane van Gisbergen secured the prestigious Blancpain Endurance Cup Drivers Championship and customer team Garage 59 won the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup Teams Championship at the Nürburgring in one of the most successful weekends for McLaren in GT3 racing.

In the final three-hour race of the Blancpain season, the #58 650S GT3, driven by Bell, Ledogar and Brit Duncan Tappy – standing in for season-regular van Gisbergen – finished P30. However, with two wins from the season’s five races against a world-class GT3 field which was constantly over 60 cars strong, the team and drivers were still able to take both titles by a single point.
