Johan Kristoffersson (S) has won the seventh race of the FIA World Rallycross Championship in Lohéac (F), securing his fifth victory of the season. It was also his fourth win in a row, making the Swedish driver the first to record such an achievement in the World Rallycross Championship. In rainy conditions on a very slippery circuit, the world championship leader from the PSRX Volkswagen Sweden team put on a commanding display to claim the win in the final, well ahead of local hero Sébastien Loeb (F/Peugeot), who led the event on Saturday evening, and Mattias Ekström (S/Audi). “I have never been so comfortable in a car in rainy conditions before,” said Kristoffersson after his win. “While it was dry yesterday, Sébastien Loeb put us under quite a bit of pressure but the team did a great job today and put out a superb car.” Read More »

Kristoffersson wins home race to extend world championship lead

Johan Kristoffersson (S) claimed his third win of the season for PSRX Volkswagen Team Sweden at round seven of the FIA World Rallycross in Höljes (S). In front of more than 45,000 passionate fans, the Swede in the Polo GTI Supercar dominated proceedings, seemingly at will. VW Newsletter April16cVolkswagen kicked off its Rally Argentina (21-24 April) with a spectacular event in Buenos Aires at the weekend, prior to the official start. Volkswagen drivers Sébastien Ogier/Julien Ingrassia (F/F) and Andreas Mikkelsen/Anders Jæger (N/N) took the Polo R WRC for a spin in front of thousands of spectators in Tigre on Saturday. They completed a thrilling street circuit, during which they put their smoking tyres through their paces with a number of donuts. The Red Bull X Fighters also put on a stunning show, with breath-taking stunts in their freestyle motocross display. The event was broadcast live on Argentinean television – including by FOX TV, a partner station of the Rally Argentina. Anton MarklundWorld Rallycross talent Anton Marklund has announced his formal invitation to the 2014 Summer Global X Games following negotiations by his management agency, The KINC.

Marklund, 21, is one of the few athletes chosen from a selective list of motorsports talent to compete at the ESPN X Games. Racing his No. 92 Volkswagen Polo RX Supercar, he will compete against 22 other rallycross drivers in Austin, Texas. Read More »
