A host of experienced drivers and navigators will take on the challenge of the Baja Aragon this weekend in Spain for Round 7 of the World Cup for FIA Cross Country Rallies.

Three MINI cars will be among the competitors at Aragon this weekend; two MINI John Cooper Works Rally crewed by Mikko Hirvonen (FIN) with co-driver Andreas Schulz (GER) and Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) with co-driver Xavier Panseri (FRA) and one MINI All 4 Racing driven by Orlando Terranova (ARG) with co-driver Paulo Fiuza (PRT). AUTO - SILK WAY RALLY 2016 PART 2Following yesterday’s official Silk Way Rally 2016 podium ceremony in Beijing, the MINI ALL4 Racing crews have had time to reflect on the epic 14-stage rally that covered more than 10,000km and three countries in two weeks. Most have agreed that the Moscow to Beijing event was tougher and more demanding than this year’s world famous Dakar.

The MINI ALL4 Racing crews found the long days, difficult stages and hot weather conditions of the Silk Way Rally more physically demanding than this year’s Dakar. However, all were happy that the MINI ALL4 Racing was able to cope with all of those challenges, enabling four of the five crews entered into the competition to finish in a top five position overall. Peugeot pre-Silk Way16a– In just 25 days and for the first time since the Dakar Rally, three PEUGEOT 2008 DKRs will line up together, on this occasion in Moscow’s Red Square ahead of their return to competitive action in the Silk Way Rally (SWR), which will be held from July 8-24, 2016.
– The Silk Way Rally follows the legendary route traced by the famous Silk Road, passing through Russia, Kazakhstan and China via their capitals Moscow, Astana and Beijing. On the programme are no fewer than 16 days of racing comprising 15 stages, covering a total distance of 10,734 kilometres – 4,105km of which will be against the clock.
– The major new technical addition to the PEUGEOT 2008 DKR is the introduction of air conditioning, which will doubtless be welcomed by the crews as they tackle the Gobi Desert! The heat is similarly a factor in Morocco, where the final testing phase is currently underway to fine-tune the set-up and development of the car, with a primary focus on the areas of shock absorption and engine management. Round six of the 2015 FIA Cross Country Rally World Cup sees MINI line up as championship leader and the MINI ALL4 Racing contingent challenging for the main title. Baja Aragón on 24th to 26th July is the second European event and one of the hotly contested rounds; it signals the start of the second half of the World Cup championship.

In his striking yellow MINI ALL4 Racing, Joan “Nani” Roma (ES) has won the sixth round of the 2014 FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. After four demanding special stages and 666.13 competitive kilometres during the 2014 Baja Aragón the Spaniard and his co-driver Michel Périn (FR) claimed the victory for the Monster Energy X-raid Team ahead of team-mates Orlando Terranova/Moi Torrallardona (AR/ES), Martin Kaczmarski/Tappio Suominen (PL/FI) and the current World Cup leader Vladimir Vasilyev/Konstantin Zhiltsov (RU/RU) who were also competing in MINI ALL4 Racing cars.

Nani Roma/Michel Perin (ES/FR) is leading the field at the Baja Aragón in Spain, his home event in the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. The driver of the Monster Energy X-raid team is 33 seconds ahead of second placed driver, his teammates Orlando Terranova/Moi Torrallardona (AR/ES), in the overall classification. MINI and the Monster Energy X-raid team are ready to take on the next challenge in the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies. The sixth round of the season, the Baja Aragón, takes place from 18th to 20th July. X-raid will field six MINI ALL4 Racings. Among those in action will be Dakar winner Joan “Nani” Roma/Michel Perin (ES/FR) and Vladimir Vasilyev/Konstantin Zhiltsov (RU/RU), who currently leads the World Cup standings.

First things first was the motto for Joan “Nani” Roma (ES) when the 2014 Dakar Rally winner visited the iconic Goodwood Festival of Speed in England before he will be heading for the 2014 Baja Arágon in Spain later this month. During the world famous motorsport event Roma competed in the spectacular 2.86 kilometre hill-climb race in front of thousands of motorsport enthusiasts from around the globe. Alongside Roma: his powerful yellow MINI ALL4 Racing in which he claimed the Dakar victory for the MINI brand and the Monster Energy X-raid Team just over five months ago in the world’s most demanding long-distance rally.
