A host of experienced drivers and navigators will take on the challenge of the Baja Aragon this weekend in Spain for Round 7 of the World Cup for FIA Cross Country Rallies.

Three MINI cars will be among the competitors at Aragon this weekend; two MINI John Cooper Works Rally crewed by Mikko Hirvonen (FIN) with co-driver Andreas Schulz (GER) and Jakub ‘Kuba’ Przygonski (POL) with co-driver Xavier Panseri (FRA) and one MINI All 4 Racing driven by Orlando Terranova (ARG) with co-driver Paulo Fiuza (PRT). AUTO - SILK WAY RALLY 2016 PART 2Following yesterday’s official Silk Way Rally 2016 podium ceremony in Beijing, the MINI ALL4 Racing crews have had time to reflect on the epic 14-stage rally that covered more than 10,000km and three countries in two weeks. Most have agreed that the Moscow to Beijing event was tougher and more demanding than this year’s world famous Dakar.

The MINI ALL4 Racing crews found the long days, difficult stages and hot weather conditions of the Silk Way Rally more physically demanding than this year’s Dakar. However, all were happy that the MINI ALL4 Racing was able to cope with all of those challenges, enabling four of the five crews entered into the competition to finish in a top five position overall. Peugeot pre-Silk Way16a– In just 25 days and for the first time since the Dakar Rally, three PEUGEOT 2008 DKRs will line up together, on this occasion in Moscow’s Red Square ahead of their return to competitive action in the Silk Way Rally (SWR), which will be held from July 8-24, 2016.
– The Silk Way Rally follows the legendary route traced by the famous Silk Road, passing through Russia, Kazakhstan and China via their capitals Moscow, Astana and Beijing. On the programme are no fewer than 16 days of racing comprising 15 stages, covering a total distance of 10,734 kilometres – 4,105km of which will be against the clock.
– The major new technical addition to the PEUGEOT 2008 DKR is the introduction of air conditioning, which will doubtless be welcomed by the crews as they tackle the Gobi Desert! The heat is similarly a factor in Morocco, where the final testing phase is currently underway to fine-tune the set-up and development of the car, with a primary focus on the areas of shock absorption and engine management.
