Another double header weekend saw us take in the Blancpain GT Series Endurance practice and qualifying, at Silverstone. Matthieu Vaxiviere / Jake Dennis / Nicki Thiim took the R-Motorsport Aston Martin V12 Vantage to pole position and converted that in to race victory on the Sunday too. Tristan Vautier / Adam Christodoulou / Raffaele Marciello were just over ten seconds back in the Mercedes-AMG Team Akka ASP Mercedes-AMG GT3. Completing the podium were Markus Palttala / Stephane Ortelli / Norbert Siedler in the Emil Frey Lexus Racing Lexus RC F GT3 after a hard fought battle for the final podium spot saw 3rd to 9th overall separated by less than 8 seconds. The threat of rain during the 3 hour race failed to amount to more than just a few drops at Silverstone, but the racing was exciting enough without the weather mixing things up. With two safety car periods early on the field never really got spread out until the final hour of racing. Andrea Caldarelli / Christian Engelhart / Mirko Bortolotti (GRT Grasser Racing Team – Lamborghini Huracan GT3) took victory by less than half a second from Jimmy Eriksson / Maximilian Buhk / Franck Perera (Mercedes-AMG Team HTP Motorsport – Mercedes-AMG GT3) after leading early on. mclaren-september16aFactory Drivers Rob Bell, Côme Ledogar and Shane van Gisbergen secured the prestigious Blancpain Endurance Cup Drivers Championship and customer team Garage 59 won the Blancpain GT Endurance Cup Teams Championship at the Nürburgring in one of the most successful weekends for McLaren in GT3 racing.

In the final three-hour race of the Blancpain season, the #58 650S GT3, driven by Bell, Ledogar and Brit Duncan Tappy – standing in for season-regular van Gisbergen – finished P30. However, with two wins from the season’s five races against a world-class GT3 field which was constantly over 60 cars strong, the team and drivers were still able to take both titles by a single point. Victory for the McLaren 650S GT3 at the Paul Ricard 1000km sees McLaren GT Factory Driver Rob Bell lead the overall Blancpain GT Drivers Championship by 20 points. The race was won in dramatic fashion with Bell and fellow Factory Drivers Shane Van Gisbergen and Côme Ledogar taking the chequered flag after six hours with a 3.7s winning margin.

The #58 650S GT3 of customer team Garage 59 finished P6 in the second round of the Blancpain Endurance Cup at Silverstone to maintain Factory Driver Rob Bell’s Blancpain GT Series title hopes with six rounds remaining. There was further success for the 650S GT3 in Italy as customer team FFF Racing Team by ACM finished P2 in the inaugural round of the Michelin GT3 Le Mans Cup at Imola.

blancpain16 (127)Our first visit to a Blancpain GT Series race saw us take in the 3hr endurance race at Silverstone. With dry conditions and periods of warm sunshine the race was fast and frantic, with over 20 cars still on the lead lap at the halfway point. A late safety car bunched up the field with little more than 20 minutes of racing time left so it was hard fought win for Maxi Buhk / Dominik Baumann / Jazeman Jaafar in the HTP Motorsport Mercedes SLS by less than a second from the Belgian Audi Club Team WRT’s Audi R8 of Laurens Vanthoor / Dries Vanthoor / Fred Vervisch. The pole position sitting GRT Grasser Racing Team Lamborghini Huracan driven by Mirko Bortolotti / Rolf Ineichen / Jeroen Bleekemolen completed the podium. Read More »

McLaren GT Factory Drivers Rob Bell, Côme Ledogar, Shane van Gisbergen and Alvaro Parente claimed victories in Europe and North America as the 650S GT3 enjoyed a strong weekend. The race-focused version of Super Series model secured a dramatic win at the opening round of the 2016 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in Monza, Italy, a double podium in the Pirelli World Challenge at Barber Motorsports Park in the USA and pole position and a win at the first weekend of the International GT Open championship in Estoril, Portugal.
