Following the most successful season in GT racing to-date for McLaren, with the 650S GT3 enjoying success across all continents on which it has competed, the customer racing team line-up has been further strengthened by Strakka Racing. The British-based team will field a minimum of four examples of the 650S GT3 in the full 10-round Blancpain GT Series throughout 2017, including the world-famous Total 24 Hours of Spa.

The announcement marks the start of a long-term partnership with Strakka Racing, focusing on talent development. As part of the programme, McLaren GT Academy Drivers will complete the driver line-up in one car, while Strakka Racing founder and driver Nick Leventis has also been confirmed. Established British sportscar team Strakka Racing has forged a substantial long-term partnership with McLaren GT, the GT race car division of McLaren Group to be its latest customer race team. The Silverstone-based squad will expand to field a minimum four-car assault under the Strakka Racing banner to defend the 2017 Blancpain GT Series Endurance Cup in which McLaren GT secured both drivers’ and manufacturers’ titles earlier this year. The latest results saw Factory Driver Côme Ledogar secure race victory and a further podium in Monza, Italy with customer team Garage 59 during the penultimate round of the International GT Open championship. Fellow Factory Driver Rob Bell was also confirmed as runner-up in the Blancpain GT Series Driver Championship after the final round of the fiercely-contested Endurance and Sprint combined calendar. On another action-packed weekend for McLaren GT customer teams around the world, Factory Driver Rob Bell took the overall lead in the Blancpain GT Series Drivers Championship after finishing P4 in the Sprint Cup Main Race at Brands Hatch. At the wheel of the #58 McLaren 650S GT3 for customer team Garage 59, and paired with fellow McLaren GT Factory Driver Alvaro Parente, Bell continued his impressive start to the 2016 Blancpain GT Series season which has seen him take a win and finish in the top ten in the other three races so far. The 650S GT3 also had a successful weekend racing at Barbagallo Raceway, Western Australia in the CAMS Australian GT Championship with a double podium result.
