Matthew Robinson and Sam Collis won round three of the FUCHS LUBRICANTS Motorsport UK British Historic Rally Championship on Saturday’s ATL Carlisle Stages (8 June).

On a tough day in Kielder forest, many crews hit problems and retirements included former championship leaders Joe Price and Chris Brooks with engine problems. However, Robinson stormed through the wet and slippery stages to take his second win of the season and move to the head of the points as Simon Webster and Jez Rogers came close to victory. Matthew Robinson and Dave Robson were the toast of Kielder when they won round two of the FUCHS LUBRICANTS Motorsport UK British Historic Rally Championship on the Pirelli Historic Rally on Saturday (27 April).

While first round winners Nick Elliott and Dave Price crashed out on the long Forks stage, Robinson repeated his 2018 victory with a storming drive. Joe Price and Chris Brooks led the chase and took over at the head of the championship points as Adrian Hetherington/Ronan O’Neill completed the overall historic podium. Nick Elliott and Dave Price got their season off to a flying start by taking maximum points in the opening round of the FUCHS LUBRICANTS Motorsport UK British Historic Rally Championship, Rally North Wales (Saturday March 30).

The forests of Wales were in prime condition and there was even dust as a bumper historic entry gathered in Dolgellau. Elliott and Price always headed the BHRC contenders, although Joe Price/Chris Brooks were never far adrift as a fine performance from Stanley Orr/Grahame Henderson netted third overall and Category 2 victory. A car destroying roll on the event 12 months ago has done little to lessen the insatiable appetite for speed of octogenarian Bob Bean as he bids to clinch another national title at this weekend’s Trackrod Rally Yorkshire (Friday, September 28th and Saturday, Sept 29th).

Legend is an over-used and often under-earned word but Bob, from Cleckheaton near Bradford, has almost done it all in an amazing career that has spanned six decades.

The 80-year old retired farmer first sat in a rally car in 1960 and rose to the heights whereby the Escort Mexico he campaigned in 1972 was fully supported by manufacturers Ford. Read More »

A true epic saw the 91 starting crews take in 30 stages across England, Scotland and Wales, in the 260+ stage mile event. It all started st Shelsley Walsh with a run up the hill climb and a historic first ever competitive run down the hill to follow. Jason Pritchard & Phil Clarke (Escort MkII) lead by a single second after the opening pair of stages before the real meat of the rally began. Roger Chilman & Bryan Thomas (Escort MkII) set fastest time by 18 seconds through Radnor, to lead Pritchard by 9 seconds with Steve Bennett & Osian Owen (Escort MkII) third overall. Pritchard was joint fastest with Matt Robinson & Sam Collis (Escort MkII) on Gwibedog but fastest on the Epynt stage put Pritchard back in to the lead as the crews headed up to Carlisle. Chilman was 2nd overall, just 9 seconds back with Rudi Lancaster & Guy Weaver (Escort MkII) just over half a minute back in 3rd place. Read More »

bhrc-trackrod16bThe special award winners from the ninth and final round of the 2016 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship, the Trackrod Historic Cup (30 September/1 October) have been announced.

Shawn Rayner and Declan Dear collected the award for the ‘Best Improvement on Seeding’, which is a set of axle brake pads from Mintex. They started 16th historic on the road and finished sixth on their way to clinching class D3 in the championship. Read More »

BHRC16 SVS BPaul Barrett and Dai Roberts took a dramatic overall historic victory on the Severn Valley Stages (Saturday 4 June), the fourth round of the 2016 Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship.

On a day of ever-changing fortunes in dry and dusty stages in the Epynt region, Barrett and Roberts swept ahead on the final stage of the rally to win in their Pinto-powered Ford Escort Mk2. Rarely has a Pinto-powered car won overall in the BHRC and it was a fantastic performance from both crew members in the RSR Historic Engineering Category 3. Read More »

WWRS15 Mid Wales CThe special award winners for the second round of the West Wales Rally Spares R.A.C. Rally Championship have been announced following the Viking Motorsport/Links Electrical Mid Wales Stages (Sunday 1 March).

The championship, organised by the Roger Albert Clark Rally Motor Club, runs in parallel to the Mintex MSA British Historic Rally Championship and is aimed at clubmen historic crews as well as those running in the Open Category. With containing costs for clubmen as a prime aim, the championship runs to a six-tyre rule on all events. Read More »
