Boucles de Spa14Similar to the leaves falling from the trees, when it comes to the Legend Boucles de Spa® 2014, the good news is pilling down on us fast.

Following the announcement several weeks back regarding the date, namely 15 February, and the news that there will be new stages in Bastogne – while the rally centre remains in Spa – we can today offer some additional details, in accordance with the RACB. Read More »

Perez_BouclesDeSpaTriple British champion Steve Perez overcame the treacherous conditions and a high speed off to record a superb 11th place finish overall on this weekend’s 2013 Legend Boucles de Spa.

Driving the iconic 1974 Amigos Tequila-flavoured beer branded Lancia Stratos on the prestigious Belgian event, Perez, from Chesterfield, and Swedish co-driver Staffan Parmander, were hoping to add more success following their recent victory on the Hadeland Historic Rally Norway last month but on the opening stage, they went off at high speed as Steve explained: Read More »

The Ardennes called once again as we made our third visit to the Boucles de Spa. Once again the field had grown with over 300 crews competing across the Legend and Classic rallies. Our focus, as always, was on the Legend field which contained most of the stars of the event. Early on the event suffered from it’s own success as the first stage had to be cancelled due to the number of spectators. A further 3 stages did not run for the full field either but the attrition rate was high, decimating the top 20 starters. Our second visit to the Ardennes for the Boucles de Spa. This year we had Friday night competitive action to look forward too also as the organisers ran a seeding stage. Without the snow of 2010 the rate of attrition was high with several high profile crews not making it beyond the seeding stages. In the rally overall it was some familiar names who took top honours as Stefaan Stouf & Joris Erard (Escort MkI) had an immaculate drive to add the Boucles de Spa 2011 to their RAC Rally 2010 title. They fended off the Escort MkII of Bjorn Waldegaard & Stephane Prevot who took 2nd overall with the Porsche 911 of 8 times Boucles de Spa winner Patrick Snijers & John Gistels completing the podium. Our first visit to Belgium in just under 9 years saw us travel to the Ardennes for the Boucles de Spa. Now in its 5th year as a Historic car rally, 52nd running in total, we were treated to the best part of 320 cars and crews driving through the snowy scenery. The rally was split into two with the Legends set a target of 80kmh average speed and the Classic a more modest 50kmh average speed. This would be a challenge as tyre choice was a lottery and with numerous passage controls per stage, keeping up the average speed would be more difficult than it sounds. We concentrated on the Legends, visiting the Paradis, Ster and Stoumont stages. Read More »
