The Ardennes called once again as we made our third visit to the Boucles de Spa. Once again the field had grown with over 300 crews competing across the Legend and Classic rallies. Our focus, as always, was on the Legend field which contained most of the stars of the event. Early on the event suffered from it’s own success as the first stage had to be cancelled due to the number of spectators. A further 3 stages did not run for the full field either but the attrition rate was high, decimating the top 20 starters. Our second visit to the Ardennes for the Boucles de Spa. This year we had Friday night competitive action to look forward too also as the organisers ran a seeding stage. The rally was split into two with the Legends set a target of 80kmh average speed and the Classic a more modest 50kmh average speed. This would be a challenge as tyre choice was a lottery and with numerous passage controls per stage, keeping up the average speed would be more difficult than it sounds. We concentrated on the Legends, visiting the Paradis, Ster and Stoumont stages. Read More »
