Dean Raftery / Aileen Kelly Ford Fiesta23 year old Dean Raftery recovered from an early event roll in his Bluebird Care backed Fiesta R2 to be crowned MSA British Rally Championship RallyTwo winner on last weekend’s Rally Isle of Man.  Due to the hard work by his team, Raftery and co-driver Aileen Kelly were able to restart the event after their leg one dramas and return to the TT Grandstand in Douglas on Saturday evening as champions.  Not only did they secure the hard fought RallyTwo title, but they also became class BRC2, FiestaSport Trophy and RAVENOL Oils Newcomers champions whilst finishing the championship in third place overall. Dean Raftery/Aileen Kelly Ford Fiesta R2MSA British Rally Championship contender Dean Raftery will head to Northern Ireland this weekend as he bids to keep his RallyTwo championship hopes alive and contests the Toddsleap Ulster Rally. The 23 year from Galway is currently second in the RallyTwo fights and leads the BRC2 class going into the fifth round of the series and will need to call on his previous experience of the challenging Fermanagh and South Tyrone roads if he is to move into the lead of the most hotly contested category in the championship. Daniel McKenna is this year’s coveted MSA British Rally Championship Pirelli UK Star Driver shootout after wowing a panel of five judges during a two-day competition, based at the iconic motorsport complex of Sweet Lamb in Wales.

McKenna and regular co-driver Arthur Kierans were also crowned the new BRC RallyTwo champions at the weekend and beat off stiff competition from five other finalists to win a full British Rally Championship campaign courtesy of tyre supplier Pirelli. McKenna, who hails from County Monaghan, will compete on all seven rounds of next year’s BRC at the wheel of a Citroën DS3 R3T supplied by DGM Motorsport.

Now in its seventh year, the Pirelli Star Driver programme has helped a number of promising drivers in their quest to become an international rally star. Read More »

trackrod13 (12)Welsh eyes were smiling as Osian Pryce & Dale Furniss (DS3 R3T) took back to back wins after their maiden BRC win on the Ulster Rally in August. This one was a different affair as they were in a fierce battle all event long and only beat Jukka Korhonen & Marko Salminen (DS3 R3T) by just under 10 seconds. Korhonen was by no means secure in 2nd as Alastair Fisher & Gordon Noble (DS3 R3T) were only 3 seconds back after some stunning stage times early on the Saturday. In the Rally Two category Daniel McKenna & Arthur Kierans (Fiesta) took victory by just under two seconds. Jon Armstrong & Karl Atkinson (Fiesta) just edged out Steve Rokland & James Aldridge (Fiesta) by just 0.1s on the final stage. After a podium position in the RallyTwo category on last month’s Ulster Rally, MSA British Rally Championship contender Alex Parpottas will aim to better his confident third position on the event as the series heads back into the forests for the Trackrod Rally Yorkshire next weekend. Parpottas, 20 from Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire will be setting his sights firmly on securing a Pirelli Star driver nomination as he narrowly missed out on the coveted “yellow jacket” on the Irish asphalt and he will be piloting his Ford Fiesta R2 on the gravel event which is based in the Dalby Forest complex.AlexParpottasInActionPR12 Read More »

Daniel McKenna from Donegal added to his already impressive year in the British Rally Championship, by not only winning BRC RallyTwo for the third time this year, but also taking the fourth nomination in the BRCLIVE Media Trophy in association with Prodrive.

Harry Threlfall just pipped McKenna to the Media Trophy nomination after the Scottish Rally, so the Irishman re-read the brief over the summer break and nailed the task with an excellent review video of his year to date.
