Yates-003Brettex Site Services backed Rhys Yates took on the biggest challenge of his career last weekend as he contested the Circuit of Ireland Rally, recording a confidence boosting 15th overall and sixth in the British Rally Championship on his first ever closed road event.  Despite challenging conditions, the Ford Fiesta R5 pilot battled with competitors in the FIA European Rally Championship on the event and enjoyed a trouble free run to score his first points of the season to sit ninth in the championship standings. Irishman Josh Moffett and co-driver John Rowan won the second round of the MSA British Rally Championship on April 8, after a weekend of attrition on the famous Circuit of Ireland. No fewer than four drivers held the lead during the two-day event, but the 23-year-old mastered the Belfast-based event in his Ford Fiesta R5 to claim a 27 second margin over Jonathan Greer and Kirsty Riddick in their Citroen DS3 R5. David Bogie and Kevin Rae made it three marques in the top three as they rounded out a Pirelli podium clean sweep in their Skoda Fabia R5.

100_Mull'15_081020-year-old Blair Brown from Kinross is eagerly looking forward to making his Irish rallying debut with Duns co-driver Richard Simmonds when the Scotsmen contests the DMACK Junior British Rally Championship this weekend at the Circuit of Ireland in his Ford Fiesta R2T.

Brown who has been rallying since 16 has faced a steep learning curve this year but so far he has acquitted himself well.  Commenting on the challenge ahead Blair Said “This is a massive event for us. Neil Simpson has set his sights on a top 10 finish on the Circuit of Ireland Rally (7-9 April), which he’ll contest in his Simpsons ŠKODA Fabia R5.

Despite a long and distinguished international rally career, during which time Neil became a works Volkswagen Motorsport driver, the 44-year old ŠKODA UK dealer principal from Clitheroe in Lancashire has only contested the Circuit of Ireland Rally once before – and that was in 2014, after he’d returned to the sport from a 12 year sabbatical.
