Stourbridge rally driver Richard Sykes suffered a disappointing debut event in his Citröen C2 R2 Max last Saturday when engine problems forced him into retirement.

The first round of the 2010 Dulux Trade MSA British Rally Championship, Bulldog International Rally North Wales, will witness a great scrap between no less than seven crews in the ultra competitive Citroën Racing Trophy.

Marty McCormack and Phil Clark are the 2009 British Rally Championship C2R2 Cup/Citroën Racing Trophy Champions, having taken eleventh place on this weekend’s Rallye Le Touquet Pas de Calais.

Trackrod09 (117)A glorious day was what North Yorkshire delivered for this years Trackrod Rally, where the culmination of several championships would make it a decisive event. In the Historic Cup the overall victory was played out by the Escort MkII’s. It was the controlled but fast pace of Julian Reynolds & Ian Oakey that took a 35 second victory from the flambuoyant Martin McCormack & Jim Goodman, who won on the entertainment stakes. Completing the podium, and wrapping up the Classic category, were Darren Moon & Chris Parsons. Behind them though was a great non-Ford battle for 4th place. In the end Steve Magson & Geoff Atkinson (Ascona 400) pipped Rob Smith & Shaun O’Gorman (Chevette) by less than a second. Read More »

Rapid young Jason Pritchard is gearing up for the forthcoming International Rally of Yorkshire, the final round of the 2009 MSA British Rally Championship and an event which the 21 year old Builth Wells resident is familiar with, after dominating his class on the event last year, en route to taking the Citroen C2R2cup championship.

Jason, a member of the British Rally Elite, and co-driver Andrew Edwards will be looking for a strong run following their recent impressive performance on their first ever overseas rally, the Flanders Rally in Belgium. There Jason and Andrew were pleasantly pleased to find themselves on the pace of the rapid locals despite never having contested the rally before and with no allowance for testing their FCS Laser Mail, North Road Garage and Competition Car Insurance supported C2R2 Max before hand. Over 12 hours of rallying in the famous Dalby forest stage awaits spectators on the 2009 Trackrod Rally Yorkshire, when it runs in the Yorkshire forests on Saturday 26 September.

To celebrate Dalby’s significance in rallying history and the fact that it is only available for one rally each year, the event organisers from the Trackrod Motor Club have arranged a stunning 16-mile stage over the classic forest tracks.

The Dalby complex will be busy throughout the day, with rallying starting just after 8am and finishing over 12 hours later after the passage of up to 250 rally cars. The international and national events will tackle the stage twice, while the historic and clubmans events will run through the stage once. Read More »

Martin McCormack and Phil Clarke took away a haul of prizes from this weekend’s Ulster International Rally, the penultimate round of the UK’s Citroën Racing Trophy.

The 127 mile event, which is also the fifth round of the MSA British Rally Championship, saw the youngster not only lead the C2R2 Max contingent from start, but take fourth place overall in the BRC standings, missing out on an overall podium place by just under eleven seconds. Read More »
