Crisp and cold conditions greeted the crews tackling the Clee Hills Trial with the ground sticky rather than totally slippery, following the recent long periods of rain. Flounders Folly, which has served us well over the years, was our first port of call where the class 1-6 cars tackled it first, before the class 0 cars had their run. The alternative route was then opened up for the bikes and the class 7 & 8 cars. We then completed our day with the class 7 & 8 cars at Easthope, which looked more challenging than it actually was. Murky conditions shrouded the Shropshire hills for the 2019 running of the Clee Hills Trial. Conditions varied also across the hills with Flounders Folly proving very slippy in places. The crews across two and four wheels registered a wide range of scores and provided plenty of entertainment for the spectators. With just under 100 crews starting the action took several hours to complete before we moved on to Easthope to watch the class 7 & 8 cars tackle a tricky straight uphill blast. This too had various scores with most crews getting past the 6 post and just a few cleaning the section. Read More »

cleehills17-40It was a largely dry day but the ground was incredibly slippery for the two tests we watched at, Flounders Folly and Strefford Wood. At Flounders there were two stand out performances; Dean Partington & Sam Phillips were simply the best on 4 wheels in their Wasp and Glenn Morgan (GasGas) was one of very few riders who cleared the section but it was his balance and speed that stood out. At the gloopy Strefford cars faired better with most of the class 8’s clearing the section, but it required lots of power to do so. The bikes struggled but Spike Stewart took his GasGas the furthest up the section. Read More »

cleehills16 (6)We were back for our hat-trick on this event after 2012 & 2014. With 2013 cancelled due to the weather and the event not run in 2015 it was a welcome return to the Shropshire hills. We took on Flounders Folly where only Dan Partington & Sam Phillips (DP Wasp) completed the test, making the most of running 2nd crew up the hill. We then moved on to Priors Holt 6, (after the cancellation of Priors Holt 7), where the first climb in to the trees was the main test. Once again another fine day out in a great setting, with good company. Read More »

SONY DSCFollowing the cancellation due to bad weather in 2013, the Clee Hills Trial was back in 2014 with glorious sunshine. However this followed the downpour of the day before and the tracks were treacherous, making many of the sections even more testing than usual. We concentrated on Priors Holt this year and watched at 2 new sections, with Priors Holt 4 proving to be the stern test. It was great to see this event again and the true spirit of motorsport, where it is man and machine against the conditions. Read More »

Our first trip out in to the world of trials saw us visit Wenlock Edge and the Long Mynd for the 2012 Clee Hills Trial. It proved to be an excellent day out with probably the happiest crews to be found in any branch of motorsport, who looked genuinely chuffed when they had defeated the terrain and elements. With our appetites wetted we will be back for more. Read More »
